Throwback Thursday - T.I. - Trap Muzik

Alright, I'm back for another edition of Throwback Thursday here to review TI's Trap Muzik. TIP is in my top 3 favorite rappers of all time and this album is very personal to me. It was almost like a soundtrack to my teens. Fortunately, I've grown up and matured an incredible amount since those days, but aside from that its still one of my all time favorite albums PBP.

Iunno where to start with this one...every song on this album rides. Tip tells his stories from the trap, strugglin comin up hustlin in the streets yet discourages the lifestyle (SN: easy money isnt always all that easy and it dont last near as long as clean money) and then encourages people to be better than him. He touches on love, lust, haters, money and the lack their of, his own remorse over his past mistakes and growth from and thereafter, and even goes at himself with his 2 personas, T.I. the versace suit wearin "hollywood" businessman vs TIP the grimey hustla from the streets with no conscience, just out to get his. Its got club tracks, bounce tracks, street tracks, baby makin tracks, really just a well-rounded blend of everything you want in any hip-hop album. He even goes as far as to proclaim (and secure) himself as "The King of the South". I, myself, am A king of the south (pun intended) yet would never proclaim to be THE king of the south but TIP holds the crown when it comes to hip-hop.

Standout tracks if I have to are... Be Easy (vid below), Lets Get Away (vid below), Rubberband Man, Bezzle (I know this is a TIP review, but Bun B slaaaays this one, one of my favorite single verses EVER), Let Me Tell You Something (with the Roger and Zapp talkbox in there), and Be Better than me. If you dont have this album, get it! Right now! "This ain't no album, this ain't no game!"
